i got tired of my C7 christmas lights costing me about 5Kw a night for 6 hrs. Phuuu.
i went with the LED version this year, saving me over 4,800 watts a 6 hr night
i am using double the lights this year in leds, than i was in C7's they use so little power, and i can run them off solar power as well, so the electric company does not get anything this year from my christmas lights..lol
i also have 1,600 watts of solar power running part of my house, i will soon have 2,200 watts, sad thing thogh is, the darn local power company here does not participate in power buy back programs ( net metering etc )
so they will not let me tie to the grid... thats sux big time..they say they do not participate in this , because they do not have to..they are a municipality..so look out people, make sure your power company will participate before you buy all your solar stuff..
anyway heres my fotos of my christmas light project..
stats...
400 led lights ( 16 sets of 25 led lights ) 2 sets each tied together to make a 30 ft line, for a 25ft tall tree
1 - 75 watt solar panel - ( used / salvaged )
1 - solar charger controller
1 - 400 watt inverter,, what i had laying on the shelf
1- 40Ah battery,, N.O.S - salvaged, but new from a good friend
1- surplus metal cabinet enclosure ( ebay can be your friend..lol )
some miselanious stuff (hardware etc ) and outit all together, and voila !
